He founded the Pedro Sauer Association - Gracie Jiu Jitsu, a renowned martial arts association founded on the principles of Pedro Sauer's exceptional expertise. Training in Pedro Sauer Gracie Jiu-Jitsu since the spring of 2015, and sharing the martial art as well since 2018, I am currently a Level 2 Instructor in the PSBJJA.
Who I Am
I was born and raised in Northern Michigan. I am married and have three wonderful children. I attend Life Worship Center in Cheboygan, and I love Jesus and thank Him daily for all of the blessings He puts before me.
I began training Jiu-Jitsu back in 2015 at the behest of my good friend Terry Shaner, a purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu at the time. I did not understand his urgency or the importance he placed on checking out what he was doing, but as a friend I put my trust in him and stepped out of my comfort zone and onto the training mats. Nothing has been the same since. I bought a set of five mobile mat stacks and with my instructor's blessing opened class myself in 2018 at a local Christian school. 2021 closed schools everywhere. 2022 I seized the opportunity to lead instruction for our blue and purple belt curriculum classes at my instructors academy PetoskeyMMA. 2024 I opened space in my home and established Iron Sharpens Iron Jiu-Jitsu Academy. My students have ranged from young children through to adults, both male and female.
What I Offer
I offer instruction provided in a safe, family friendly, inclusive environment. I want to share this art that transcends the space in which it is learned and helps you grow in all aspects of your life. You will be a better person for grasping even a basic understanding of what is offered through this art, and it will bring positive affect to all of your life. You will find help however you want to train, wether it be to compete or just find a fun exercise or hobby.
I’m blessed to have been training for 7 years with my best friend. Before training with him, I watched him until I had to join. I have been his uke through many classes throughout the years.
God gave me a passion for teaching women Jiu jitsu and helping them feel safer in this world. God also gave me a passion to teach kids.
